The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army, Union Navy, Marines and the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service who served in the American Civil War. It was founded in 1866 in Springfield, Illinois, and grew to include hundreds of "posts" across the nation. Services included: Memorial Day, Memorial Day at Cemetery, Memorial Day Public Exercises, Dedication, Burial of the Dead, Memorial, Installation of Officers, Form of Inspection. Organization went extinct August 2, 1956. Successor: Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Scarce if not Rare. ; 12mo 7" - 7" tall; 67 pages
