While in Elyria, Kate Moody met the man who was to become her husband, William L. Smith, a widower with five children. Six of their own were added to this family. When she was fifty and he sixty-six, they felt the urge of Horace Greeley's slogan, "Go West, young man!" and set out for Washington Territory, where two of their sons had preceded them. ; Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 252 pages;

New York, N.Y. Amber Pub. Corp 1976 0916788016 First Edition; First Impression Hardcover As New in As New dust jacket
Blue cloth cover. Dust in mylar cover had very minor rub to edge. Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz (sometimes spelled Doenitz; ; 16 September 1891 – 24 December 1980) was a German admiral who played a major role in the naval history of World War II. Dönitz briefly succeeded Adolf Hitler as the head of state of Germany. He began his career in the Imperial German Navy before World War I. In 1918, while he was in command of UB-68, the submarine was sunk by British forces and Dönitz was taken prisoner. While in a prisoner of war camp, he formulated what he later called Rudeltaktik ("pack tactic", commonly called "wolfpack"). At the start of World War II, he was the senior submarine officer in the Kriegsmarine. In January 1943, Dönitz achieved the rank of Großadmiral (grand admiral) and replaced Grand Admiral Erich Raeder as Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. On 30 April 1945, after the death of Adolf Hitler and in accordance with Hitler's last will and testament, Dönitz was named Hitler's successor as head of state, with the title of President of Germany and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. On 7 May 1945, he ordered Alfred Jodl, Chief of Operations Staff of the OKW, to sign the German instruments of surrender in Reims, France. Dönitz remained as head of the Flensburg Government, as it became known, until it was dissolved by the Allied powers on 23 May. At the Nuremberg trials, he was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to ten years' imprisonment; after his release, he lived quietly in a village near Hamburg until his death in 1980. 3788 Toledano, Ralph de American Mercury: Nixon the man and his politics
New York , NY American Mercury Magazine 1959 First Impression Paperback Very Good with no dust jacket
Photo of Nixon on cover. Rare. May 1959 edition. The American Mercury was an American magazine published from 1924 to 1981. It was founded as the brainchild of H. L. Mencken and drama critic George Jean Nathan. The magazine featured writing by some of the most important writers in the United States through the 1920s and 1930s. After a change in ownership in the 1940s, the magazine attracted conservative writers. A second change in ownership a decade later turned the magazine into a virulently anti-Semitic publication. It was published monthly in New York City. The magazine went out of business in 1981, having spent the last 25 years of its existence in decline and controversy. In 1956, George Lincoln Rockwell was hired as a writer, and later became the founder of the American Nazi Party. In January 1959, Maguire published an American Mercury editorial supporting a theory that there was a Jewish conspiracy for world domination.
