Before he became one of America's most respected statesmen, Bob Dole was an average citizen serving heroically for his country. The bravery he showed after suffering near-fatal injuries in the final days of World War II is the stuff of legend. Now, for the first time in his own words, Dole tells the moving story of his harrowing experience on and off the battlefield, and how it changed his life.Speaking here not as a politician but as a wounded G.I., Dole recounts his own odyssey of courage and sacrifice, and also honors the fighting spirit of the countless heroes with whom he served. Heartfelt and inspiring, One Soldier's Story is the World War II chronicle that America has been waiting for. ; Photographs; 1.2 x 9.1 x 6 Inches; 304 pages; Signed by Author

6 Zimmerman, Leo , Ilza Veith Great Ideas in the History of Surgery
Baltimore, MD The Williams & Wilkins Company 1961 First Edition; First Impression Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket
Brown Hardcover with dark brown print. Very minor soiling to cover. "The authors pick a very wide range of surgeons to discuss, from ancient times to the 19th century. The book shows the range, inventiveness and often iron courage of the many pioneers who cut into unanesthetized human flesh, and braved the great agonies they caused with their knives in the quest to heal. They sought to end suffering but through suffering, offering the only hope which could be offered. In addition to short, very well-written and informative essays on each surgeon or surgical school, the authors present well-chosen exerpts from the original writings." review. Complete bibliography and fully indexed. Rare. ; 1961; Color Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 587 pages
