A Journey My Political Life (Author Signed), Blair, Tony
6 Blair, Tony A Journey My Political Life (Author Signed)
Knopf 2010 0307269833 / 9780307269836 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket Signed by Author
Signed bookplate on endpaper. Stated first edition. Contents look new with many photos. Dust Jacket (not price clipped) is now in Mylar Protective Cover. The longest-serving Labour prime minister of Britain, and still a figure on the international political stage, Blair recalls in detail the events of his premiership. He covers lots of actions and activities and shares with forthrightness his thinking on world and domestic issues he had to confront; on the other hand, on occasion he does play his cards close to the vest, avoiding a complete “spilling” of his thoughts about a certain situation he had then and now. Blair’s view of the late Princess Diana is discerning; of his successor, Gordon Brown, hardly affectionate; of George Bush (the younger), certainly controversial. Consciousness of his public image was never far from how he acted in office and now how he writes about his actions. Behind the scenes in the halls of power is always an interesting place to go, and Blair takes us there with delight on his part and on our part, from weekending with the royal family in Scotland to the nerve-racking “Prime Minister’s Questions,” when the PM must face inquiries (read “criticism”) from the opposition MPs. Rare. Beautiful scarce collectors grade copy of this book.; Photographs; 9.40 X 6.70 X 1.70 inches; 700 pages; Signed by Author

Signed by Author. Dr. Cameron Talbot has invented a breakthrough technology to defend against cruise missiles. But she needs support from skeptical company officers, funding from a reluctant Congress, and help from the White House to develop her life-saving project. Lt. Col. Hunt Daniels, detailed from the Pentagon to the White House National Security Council to investigate Dr. Talbots work, sees the potential of the invention. The fact that hes attracted to the brilliant scientist adds one more dimension to his interest in her work. But disaster is brewing overseas as militants in the disputed Kashmir region of India steal a series of missiles from sympathizers in the Pakistani military and launch one against India. At the same time, they send one of their agents to Washington, D.C., to steal Dr. Talbots technology so they can protect themselves when their enemies retaliate. The scientist and the NSC staffer find themselves enmeshed in terrorist plots and political wrangling at the highest levels. With scenes in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Capitol Hill, Georgetown restaurants, and Washington dinner parties, as well as action in Kashmir, New Delhi, and at the Taj Mahal, the tension and intrigue escalate until two nuclear-armed countries stand at the brink of war.; 1.2 x 9.4 x 6.3 Inches; 336 pages; Signed by Author

Wikipedia ; 0.6 x 8.4 x 5.5 Inches; 246 pages; Settlers of Maryland 1679-1700 extends Gust Skordas's renowned Early Settlers of Maryland through the last quarter of the 17th century, identifying several thousand immigrants and their colorfully named tracts. Based on the same series of records as Skordas--Land Office books on file at the Hall of Records in Annapolis--the entries in this work are arranged by family name, county, name of tract granted, acreage, date, and reference to original source(s). Tract names often suggest English places familiar to the settler--perhaps places of origin or residence--and they are so many and so various that an index of tract names has been appended to the book. On balance, this is one of the most original contributions to Maryland genealogy in years.

Jeane Dixon My Life and Prophecies, Dixon, Jeane & Rene Noorbergen

William Morrow 1969 0688021425 / 9780688021429 First Edition; Various Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket Signed by Author
White and blue cover, no dust or slipcase. Signed, "Blessings, Jean Dixon". Book is in Excellent Condition. Jean Dixon was one of the best-known American astrologers and psychics of the 20th century, due to her syndicated newspaper astrology column, and some well-publicized predictions and a best-selling biography. She is best known for allegedly predicting the assassination of President John F. Kennedy four years before he was elected. In the May 13, 1956, issue of Parade Magazine she wrote that the 1960 presidential election would be "dominated by labor and won by a Democrat" who would then go on to "be assassinated or die in office though not necessarily in his first term." Five years later Jeane Dixon was addressing a meeting in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles when questioned if Robert Kennedy would ever become President. 'No,' she had answered. 'He will never become President of the United States because of a tragedy right here in this hotel.' A week later Robert Kennedy did win the California Democratic primary and he had just finished addressing a victory rally at the Ambassador Hotel's ballroom when he was shot. He died the following day. Also in January 1942 Dixon had warned the Hollywood film actress Carole Lombard (married to Clark Gable at the time) that it would be dangerous for her to travel by plane within the next six weeks. Lombard, scheduled to appear at a War Bond rally did not heed Dixon's warning, she died in an airplane crash within three days of the warning. President Richard Nixon referred to Jean Dixon as "the soothsayer" and ordered preparations for a terrorist attack that Dixon had predicted, of course the prediction did not come true during Nixon's term. She was also one of several astrologers who gave advice to Nancy Reagan during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She died of cardiac arrest in Washington, D.C. on January 25, 1997, at the age of 93. Nail Pullers, Fredrich, Raymond
19 Fredrich, Raymond Nail Pullers
AuthorHouse 2005 1420874527 / 9781420874525 First Edition; Various Paperback As New with no dust jacket Signed by Author
As new. Inscribed on title page, "We must all pull together, Raymond P. Fredrich". This book will be enjoyed by "The Antique Tool Researcher, the Flea marketer, the Tool Collector Historian", and many others. The 39 pages of Patent information is very useful for that person looking for History of Patent Dates, Patent Numbers, or the Patentee. The Nail Puller does the same job as the claw on the hammer, but it does it differently. Mainly, this is about the Slide Hammer type of Nail Puller, and many variations of it. There was a time when each nail was forged by a Blacksmith . That made the nail more valuable than the wood it had been driven into. Wood was very plentiful in the mid-19th century. My book will show you examples of Square Nail Pullers that go back to 1849. If it became necessary to change your resident location, you might possibly take your house apart, just to get the nails. You might even burn your house down and pick up nails in the ashes. Herein contained are many examples of the Slide Hammer type of Nail Puller. From the stand point of History, there are many copies of Trade Magazine advertising, showing the advertisement and some times the cost of the tool, as far back as 1890. I have included a "Guide to Scarcity", which will help you determine the "Frequently Found" or the "Not Likely to be found" Nail Puller. Included are 252 copies of patent sketches taken from the original patents, giving the Patentee, (inventor and/or manufacturer) the patent date and patent number. There are more patents in the patent office, than nail pullers that were manufactured. Contained herein are about 60 pictures of more than 100 Nail Pullers in my collection, which are captioned to reflect points of interest. I was unable to find one of each Nail Puller ever produced, but here is a good representation of what I could find over a 5 year period . For the Researcher, included are 39 pages of index composed by Patentee, Patent Date, and Patent Number, which are cross referenced one to the other.; Illustrated; 0.9 x 10.8 x 8.2 Inches; 440 pages; Signed by Author
