After WWII there was a need for multi-role aircraft thus the Hawker Hunter was designed. The RAF developed several different types of Hunter. Sweden and the Netherlands looked at the Hunter and models were sold to the Swiss Air Force and the Republic of Singapore, the Jordanian Air Force, Sultan of Oman and Nato were also consumers of this versitle plane. This publication is a must for model builders. There is a center section with color illustations of the various Hunters. "Hawker Aircraft is most famous for its WW2 fighter plane, the Hurricane. After WW2, the British needed something to match the MIG-15. The Hunter was first flown in 1949, but production did not start until 1953 after the Korean War. Just under 2,000 of these multi-role jets were built and served with the Royal Air Force" reviewer. ; Photographs, Drawings; 8.30 X 7.90 X 0.20 inches; 50 pages

Dorrance Pub Co 2002 0805954171 / 9780805954173 First Edition; First Impression Paperback Near Fine with no dust jacket
Signed by both authors. The extraordinary life of Captain Charles N. Bamforth spanned most of the twentieth century, beginning with his childhood at the turn of the century and continuing through his retirement and death during the Cold War era. During his sixty years at sea, Captain Bamforth experienced the Depression, two World Wars, and a number of troublesome labor disputes. Through it all, he also had to navigate loneliness, confusion, and marriage to both his family and the sea. His story is told in meticulous detail and with refreshing honesty. Captain Bamforths handwritten diaries, logs, and personal letters all have been carefully compiled by his sons, Charles and Richard, and reveal as much about the hard-working, unassuming courage of the captain as they do about the turbulent times during which he lived. To D-Day and Back Adventures with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment and Life as a World War II POW: A memoir, Bearden, Bob
8 Bearden, Bob To D-Day and Back Adventures with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment and Life as a World War II POW: A memoir
Zenith Press/Author 2007 0760332584 / 9780760332580 First Edition; First Impression Hardcover Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket
Signed by two World War II heros, Bob Bearden on title page and by another 507th infantryman Jim "Pee Wee" Martin. Bob Bearden's To D-Day and Back was not just another paratrooper-themed memoir trying to ride on the success of others. Several distinctions set this work apart from others. Bearden told his story from a very personal angle. Coupled with the use of everyday prose, the book is another one of those works that felt much like storytelling by a member of the family. It is not just another war memoir, but rather, the book told how the war interacted with Bearden's life. n the predawn hours of D-Day, June 6, 1944, Bob Bearden and his comrades in the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment jumped into the inky skies over Normandy. Their mission: defend the west bank of the Merderet River against German counterattack. After long months of training they were finally taking the war to the Germans. Bearden’s time in combat proved shortlived, however, when he was captured on D-plus-2, June 8. This was only the beginning of a new war for his survival through multiple German POW camps, his so-called “liberation” by Russian tanker crews more bent on exacting vengeance upon the Germans than safeguarding Allied prisoners, and the perilous journey that followed, mostly on foot, along the sandy, snow-covered roads of Germany and Poland on the way to Moscow and eventually, back home to Dallas, Texas.(from inside flap) ; Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 304 pages; Signed by Collection of Signatures

The End of the War Singapore's Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War, Bose, Romen
12 Bose, Romen The End of the War Singapore's Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War
Marshall Cavendish Editions 2005 9812610669 / 9789812610669 First Edition Paperback Near Fine with no dust jacket
Book looks new. Where there are victors, there are also the defeated. As the Second World War comes to a close in Southeast Asia, the Japanese military forces in the region must face up to the fact that the British will soon return to reoccupy their colonies. The British, on the other hand, have to quickly organise the reoccupation of their former colonies, focusing on Singapore and Malaya. Surprised by the abrupt surrender of their enemies, planning is put into high gear. Meanwhile, prisoners of war and the general population in Malaya and Singapore, having suffered greatly under the Japanese, wait impatiently for the moment when they can once again breathe free. In the midst of this, chaos looms and racial tensions build, ready to erupt. Journeying to the past, this book unravels the intricate details of the culminating events in the history of the end of the war in Malaya and Singapore. Based on research gleaned from the classified documents only recently made public in the UK, an unprecedented exposition unfolds the events that went on behind the scenes as the British prepared to return to the region to reestablish their authority. With a cast of historical characters ranging from the great and powerful General Itagaki to the less well-known but no less significant members of the espionage Force 136, the events leading up to and following the official Japanese surrender in Southeast Asia is captured in remarkable detail here in one volume as The End of the War: Singapore’s Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War.; 0.5 x 8.1 x 5.8 Inches; 211 pages

A History of the Irish Soldier, Bredin, A. E. C
15 Bredin, A. E. C A History of the Irish Soldier
Belfast, Ireland Century Books 1987 First Edition; First Impression Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket
0903152185 Green hardback with gilt print looks never read. Dust has a tear at bottom edge next to spine of about 1/2 inch by 2 inches. Now in mylar cover for protection. Small coffee ? stain on front endpaper. To condense the history of Irishmen at arms into a single readable volume is no mean feat, and hefty one at that... The work's greatest strength revolves around the British Army, and the myriad campaigns fought by its regiments from the time of King William to post Korea, and at its worst stands as a confused mashing of names, dates, and places, without coherency.Taking center stage, obviously, are the Irish regiments themselves..... it is a lovely single volume history of Irish military service over the past millennium... Bredin's chronicle is amazing in its scope and exciting in its history." From a review. Fully indexed.; Photographs, maps, illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 566 pages
