He served i the U.S. Navy in World War 1 aboard the Von Steuben a troop carrier that carried servicemen to the war in Europe. After 20 months on the Von Steuben he was transferred to the Nansemond which had formerly been the Pennsylvania a liner from the Hamburg American fleet. It too served as a troop transport bring back servicemen from World War ! His last deployment was aboard a U.S. Destroyer the USS Gridley. After his discharge in 1920 the author moved to Florida and worked for Strawberry farmers Mr. E.R. Ratliff and Mr. J.B. Sellers in Bowling Green where he met and married the "farmers daughter" Elizabeth Sellers. This booklet is enclosed in an archival sleeve for protection. ; Photographs; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 28 pages
