Thessalonika Information Office, C. army Corps 1949 First Edition; Various Paperback Very Good with No dust jacket as issued
Tan cover with black print, Burning building in background. A pictrorial history after the Civil War in Greece 1945-1949. Written in Greek and English. Book now in archival sleeve to protect condition. The Greek Civil War (Greek: ? Eµf????? [???eµ??], "the Civil War") was fought from 1946–49 between the Greek government army—backed by Great Britain and the United States—and the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE), the military branch of the Greek Communist Party (KKE), backed by Yugoslavia and Albania as well as Bulgaria. The result was the defeat of the Communist insurgents by the government forces.[11] Founded by the Communist Party of Greece and funded by Communist nations such as Yugoslavia, many of the insurgents operating within the Democratic Army of Greece were partisans who had fought against German and Italian occupation forces during the Second World War. The civil war was the result of a highly polarized struggle between left and right that started in 1943 and targeted the power vacuum that the end of German-Italian occupation during World War II had created. 7 Adamic, Louis, et. al. The Truth About Aimee Semple McPherson A Symposium
Girard, KS Haldeman-Julius Company 1926 First Edition; First Impression Paperback Very Good with No dust jacket as issued
Paperback booklet has tan cover black print. Former owners name in front. Cover shows soiling, contents clean. Paper yellowing due to age. Published articles by author and Edward Campbell, Mike Schindler, and Robert Mason exposing Aimee as a fraud. " Aimee Semple McPherson (October 9, 1890 – September 27, 1944), also known as Sister Aimee, was a Canadian-American Los Angeles–based evangelist and media celebrity in the 1920s and 1930s. She founded the Foursquare Church. McPherson has been noted as a pioneer in the use of modern media, especially radio, and was the second woman to be granted a broadcast license. She used radio to draw on the growing appeal of popular entertainment in North America and incorporated other forms into her weekly sermons at Angelus Temple. In her time she was the most publicized Christian evangelist, surpassing Billy Sunday and her other predecessors. She conducted public faith-healing demonstrations before large crowds; testimonies conveyed tens of thousands of people healed. McPherson's articulation of the United States as a nation founded and sustained by divine inspiration continues to be echoed by many pastors in churches today. News coverage sensationalized misfortunes with family and church members; particularly inflaming accusations she had fabricated her reported kidnapping, turning it into a national spectacle McPherson's preaching style, extensive charity work and ecumenical contributions were a major influence in revitalization of American Evangelical Christianity in the 20th century."(Wikipedia) Rare work. Grey cloth and Red 1/4 leather binding. Has trio of confederate flags on front. See scan. Has former owners name and a book plate in front otherwise fine condition. This is a reprint of the 1892 edition. A sample of the text: After the retreat of the Confederates, McClellan's plans were pushed with more vigor, and by the end of March the mass of the Federal troops had been transferred to Fortress Monroe. As the Federal plans were gradually revealed to the Confederates, dispositions were made to meet them. General Johnston retired first behind the Rapidan, and when, early in April, there was no longer room to doubt the destination of the Federal forces, the mass of his army was ordered to the Peninsula, where General Magruder with 11,000 men 1 was meanwhile delaying, with admirable energy and skill, the advance of McClellan. Magruder, finding that his most advanced line, extending across the Peninsula from the mouth of the Warwick by Young's Mill to Harwood's Mill and Ship Point, required more force than he had at command, had selected, as a second position, a line extending from Yorktown by way of the Warwick River to Minor's farm and thence to Mulberry Island Point. He garrisoned Gloucester Point on the north bank of the York, and thus disputed the passage of that river at its narrowest part. Magruder thus describes his position: 2 " Warwick River rises very near York River and about one and a half miles to the right of Yorktown. Yorktown and redoubts Nos. 4 and 5, united by long curtains and flanked by rifle-pits, form the left of the line, until at the commencement of the military road it reaches Warwick River, here a sluggish and boggy stream, twenty or thirty yards wide, and running through a dense wood fringed by swamps. Along this riverare five dams — one at Wynne's Mill, one at Lee's Mill, and three constructed by myself. The effect of these dams is to back up the water along the course of the river, so that for nearly three fourths of its distance its... ; Civil War Heritage Series; Maps; 1.2 x 9.1 x 6.2 Inches; 537 pages

Original 1806 printing from the second London Edition. Very worn leather boards. Hinges cracking but not seperated. Contents shows browning due to age. Clean otherwise. David Bogue (18 February 1750 – 25 October 1825) was a British nonconformist leader. He was born in the parish of Coldingham, Berwickshire, Scotland. After a course of study in Edinburgh, he was licensed to preach by the Church of Scotland, but made his way to London in 1771, to teach in schools at Edmonton, Hampstead and Camberwell. In 1777, he settled as minister of the Congregational church at Gosport in Hampshire.[1] His predecessors at the Independent Chapel of Gosport were the Rev. James Watson (1770–76) and the Rev. Thomas Williams (1750–70).[2]In 1771 he established an institution for preparing men for the ministry.[3][4] It was the age of the new-born missionary enterprise, and Bogue's academy was largely the seed from which the London Missionary Society grew.[5] In 1800 the society placed missionaries with Bogue for preparation for their ministries.[6] Bogue himself would have gone to India in 1796 if not for the opposition of the East India Company.[5] In 1824 he taught Samuel Dyer at Gosport before he left for Penang as a missionary with the London Missionary Society.[3]He was also involved in founding the British and Foreign Bible Society and the Religious Tract Society, and in conjunction with James Bennett, minister at Romsey, wrote a well-known History of Dissenters (3 vols., 1809). Another of his writings was an Essay on the Divine Authority of the New Testament.[5] He died at Brighton.[3] We provide delivery tracking to all US orders. The End of the War Singapore's Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War, Bose, Romen
15 Bose, Romen The End of the War Singapore's Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War
Marshall Cavendish Editions 2005 9812610669 / 9789812610669 First Edition Paperback Near Fine with no dust jacket
Book looks new. Where there are victors, there are also the defeated. As the Second World War comes to a close in Southeast Asia, the Japanese military forces in the region must face up to the fact that the British will soon return to reoccupy their colonies. The British, on the other hand, have to quickly organise the reoccupation of their former colonies, focusing on Singapore and Malaya. Surprised by the abrupt surrender of their enemies, planning is put into high gear. Meanwhile, prisoners of war and the general population in Malaya and Singapore, having suffered greatly under the Japanese, wait impatiently for the moment when they can once again breathe free. In the midst of this, chaos looms and racial tensions build, ready to erupt. Journeying to the past, this book unravels the intricate details of the culminating events in the history of the end of the war in Malaya and Singapore. Based on research gleaned from the classified documents only recently made public in the UK, an unprecedented exposition unfolds the events that went on behind the scenes as the British prepared to return to the region to reestablish their authority. With a cast of historical characters ranging from the great and powerful General Itagaki to the less well-known but no less significant members of the espionage Force 136, the events leading up to and following the official Japanese surrender in Southeast Asia is captured in remarkable detail here in one volume as The End of the War: Singapore’s Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War.; 0.5 x 8.1 x 5.8 Inches; 211 pages

What will he do with it?, Caxton, Pisistratus, Sir E. Bulwer Lytton Bart
19 Caxton, Pisistratus, Sir E. Bulwer Lytton Bart What will he do with it?
New York, NY Harper & Brothers, Publishers 1861 Later Printing; First Edition Hardcover Fair with No dust jacket as issued
Leather binding has wear at edges and corners with chips to top and bottom of spine. Contents show browning to pages due to age. Contains books 1-12 which seems to be the total book in one volume. Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton PC, was an English novelist, poet, playwright, and politician. Born: May 25, 1803, London, United Kingdom. Lytton was a florid, popular writer of his day, who coined such phrases as "the great unwashed", "pursuit of the almighty dollar", "the pen is mightier than the sword", and the infamous incipit "It was a dark and stormy night."He was the youngest son of General William Earle Bulwer of Heydon Hall and Wood Dalling, Norfolk and Elizabeth Barbara Lytton, daughter of Richard Warburton Lytton of Knebworth, Hertfordshire. He had two brothers, William Earle Lytton Bulwer (1799–1877) and Henry, afterwards Lord Dalling and Bulwer. Lord Lytton's original surname was Bulwer, the names 'Earle' and 'Lytton' were middle names. On 20 February 1844 he assumed the name and arms of Lytton by royal licence and his surname then became 'Bulwer-Lytton'. His widowed mother had done the same in 1811. His brothers were always simply surnamed 'Bulwer'. Died: January 18, 1873, Torquay, United KingdomAwards: Chancellor's Gold Medal. .....The opening chapters really compel one into reading on and on when Bulwer-Lytton unfolds the story of the angelic little Sophy and her grandfather, who is known as Gentleman Waife and who is forced to earn his living as an actor and to make his grandchild, too, appear on the stage amidst a group of itinerant actors under the guidance of the tyrannic Lorenzo Rugge. The yarn itself is brilliant and compelling, and the main motif is the difference between a man who sacrificed everything in order to keep his family’s good name unsullied and another who sacrificed his own name in order to give somebody he loves another chance. First was published in 1859 so this may be a second? ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 311 pages
