He served in parsonages in New Orleans and Mississippi.Carradine wrote 26 books which primarily advanced his religious beliefs. Several of his books were centered on the concept of sanctification. Born at Flat Woods, Tennessee on January 8, 1882, he studied at Trinity (now Duke) and Harvard Universities. Chappell, a retired Methodist minister who was the first principal at Grove High School (Paris, Tn) , died Friday (1972) at his home in Waverly of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 90.Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Waverly Methodist Church with burial in Richlawn Cemetery.Dr. Chappell was principal and coach at Grove from 1906 to 1908. He was ordained into the ministry of the Methodist Church in 1908, and over the next 41 years held pastorates in Washington, Memphis, Houston, Birmingham and Charlotte, North Carolina.
