A Man Called Lucy, Accoce, Pierre And Quet, Pierre
1 Accoce, Pierre And Quet, Pierre A Man Called Lucy
New York Coward Mccann 1967 First American Edition; First Impression Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket
Book and dust in excellent condition, looks never read. Roessler became a Russian Spy. Roessler's information came straight from the German High command. He would get radio contact from the Official Broadcasting Center of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht. The information was given to a transmitter who only knew Roessler by his call number "RAHS." Any information regarding the German army was preceded by "Werther" "Olga" for the Air Force. His information contained troop movements, invasion timetables, production statistics, casualty counts, and loss of equipment for each battle. Often, his information was transmitted to the Russians before the German units received orders. The amount of information Rudolf Roessler sent over the course of five years to Russia could fill about 40 average length books. That is about 5,500 messages or 5 messages a day for 3 years, or approximately 129 messages a month. Russia used the information to wage psychological warfare. This was an unqualified success, and many German soldiers suffered mental breakdowns as a result. ; WWII spy Rudolf Roessler; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 250 pages

The End of the War Singapore's Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War, Bose, Romen
4 Bose, Romen The End of the War Singapore's Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War
Marshall Cavendish Editions 2005 9812610669 / 9789812610669 First Edition Paperback Near Fine with no dust jacket
Book looks new. Where there are victors, there are also the defeated. As the Second World War comes to a close in Southeast Asia, the Japanese military forces in the region must face up to the fact that the British will soon return to reoccupy their colonies. The British, on the other hand, have to quickly organise the reoccupation of their former colonies, focusing on Singapore and Malaya. Surprised by the abrupt surrender of their enemies, planning is put into high gear. Meanwhile, prisoners of war and the general population in Malaya and Singapore, having suffered greatly under the Japanese, wait impatiently for the moment when they can once again breathe free. In the midst of this, chaos looms and racial tensions build, ready to erupt. Journeying to the past, this book unravels the intricate details of the culminating events in the history of the end of the war in Malaya and Singapore. Based on research gleaned from the classified documents only recently made public in the UK, an unprecedented exposition unfolds the events that went on behind the scenes as the British prepared to return to the region to reestablish their authority. With a cast of historical characters ranging from the great and powerful General Itagaki to the less well-known but no less significant members of the espionage Force 136, the events leading up to and following the official Japanese surrender in Southeast Asia is captured in remarkable detail here in one volume as The End of the War: Singapore’s Liberation and the Aftermath of the Second World War.; 0.5 x 8.1 x 5.8 Inches; 211 pages

Horrido! Figher Aces of the Luftwaffe, Constable, Trevor J.; Toliver, Raymond F.
10 Constable, Trevor J.; Toliver, Raymond F. Horrido! Figher Aces of the Luftwaffe
New York Macmillan 1968 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket
Book and dust in very good condition. Has former owners name neatly written in front. Dust now in mylar protective cover. Introduction by Lt. General Adolph Galland, General of the Fighter Arm, 1941-45. The Luftwaffe was the aerial warfare branch of the combined German Wehrmacht military forces during World War II. The Luftwaffe proved instrumental in the German victories across Poland and Western Europe in 1939 and 1940. During the Battle of Britain, however, despite inflicting severe damage to the RAF's infrastructure and, during the subsequent Blitz, devastating many British cities, the German air force failed to batter the beleaguered British into submission. (Wiki) Horrido is a hunting expression used in Germany. German hunters say “Horrido” and the crowd answers “Yo”. Horrido was also a German fighter pilots training manual. Published in June of 1944, this little book was a manual to teach fighter pilots how to correctly engage their target – how to gauge distances, when to shoot. As in the US, many of the little German military manuals of this time period also included funny cartoons to help soldiers better memorize their content. University Alabama Press 2006 0817315195 / 9780817315191 First Edition Hardcover Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket
Looks new unread. Dust Jacket now in Mylar Protective Cover.With the fall of Vicksburg to Union forces in mid-1863, the Federals began work to extend and consolidate their hold on the lower Mississippi Valley. As a part of this plan, Major General William Tecumseh Sherman set out from Vicksburg on February 3, 1864, with an army of some 25,000 infantry and a battalion of cavalry. They expected to be joined by another Union force moving south from Memphis and supported themselves off the land as they traveled due east across Mississippi. Sherman entered Meridian on February 14 and thoroughly destroyed its railroad facilities, munitions plants, and cotton stores, before returning to Vicksburg. Though not a particularly effective campaign in terms of enemy soldiers captured or killed, it offers a rich opportunity to observe how this large-scale raid presaged Sherman’s Atlanta and Carolina campaigns, revealing the transformation of Sherman’s strategic thinking. ; 1.1 x 9.1 x 6.1 Inches; 232 pages;
