Official Inaugural Program Honoring Governor George C. Wallace, January 14, 1963, Alabama
5 Alabama Official Inaugural Program Honoring Governor George C. Wallace, January 14, 1963
Montgomery, AL Inaugural Committee 1963 First Edition; First Impression Paperback Very Good with No dust jacket as issued
Blue and white cover with photo of George C. Wallace. George Corley Wallace, Jr. (August 25, 1919 September 13, 1998) was an American politician and the 45th Governor of Alabama, having served two nonconsecutive terms and two consecutive terms as a Democrat: 19631967, 19711979 and 19831987. Wallace has the third longest gubernatorial tenure in post-Constitutional U.S. history at 5,848 days. After four runs for U.S. President (three as a Democrat and one on the American Independent Party ticket), he earned the title "the most influential loser" in 20th century U.S. politics, according to biographers Dan T. Carter and Stephan Lesher.A 1972 assassination attempt left Wallace paralyzed, and he used a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. He is remembered for his Southern populist and segregationist attitudes during the mid-20th century period of the African-American civil rights movement and activism, which gained passage of federal civil rights legislation in the mid-1960s to enforce constitutional rights for all citizens. He eventually renounced segregationism but remained a populist.(Wikipedia); Photographs, Illustrations

Tan and black cover with gilt print. Some marginal notations from the former owner an Army Chaplain who may have used them for sermon notes. Condition otherwise like new. For both Union and Confederate soldiers, religion was the greatest sustainer of morale in the Civil War, and faith was a refuge in a great time of need. Here for the first time, encompassing the depth and breadth of their dedication and sacrifice, is their fascinating and uplifting story. Dr. James I. Robertson, Jr., is an alumni distinguished professor of history and the executive director of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia Tech. William C. Davis is professor of history and director of programs of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies. John Brinsfield is a retired army chaplain in Atlanta, Georgia. Benjamin Maryniak is a lifelong student of the Civil War in Lancaster, New York. Dust Jacket now in Mylar Protective Cover.; Photographs; 9.10 X 6.10 X 1 inches; 256 pages
